Two from Two in South Africa for Patinack Farm graduates
13 May 2011

Unannouced became the second winner in South Africa for graduates from the Patinack Farm breeding operation when it won on debut at Clairwood on 10 May 2011. This made it two from two, a 100% winners to runners success rate, for Patinack Farm bred horses racing in South Africa after Tennessee Strategy had won on debut on 1 March 2011.

Unannounced, a 2 year by Snitzel from Dialogue, was bred by Patinack Farm and purchased by Charlie Laird, on behalf of major owner Marcus Jooste, at the 2010 Magic Millions yearling sales for $220,000. The dam, Dialogue, is a half sister to Diatribe, one of Australia’s best racehorses in recent years. In addition, Unannounced also has You’re My lady as its 3rd dam, which is well known in South African racing circles as the dam of a host of top horses including sprinters Daphne Donnelly and Lady Broadhurst. You’re My Lady is also the granddam of Australian stallion, Al Samer. Unannounced won by 3.25 lengths over 1200 metres in a time of 1m10.83s; easily the fastest of the four 1200 metre races run on the day.

Tennessee Strategy, a 2 year old by Stratum from Tennessee Red, was also purchased by Charlie Laird for Marcus Jooste at the 2010 Magic Millions sales, fetching $130,000 for Patinack Farm. Tennessee Strategy is the third foal of her dam and is from the family of black type performers, Trezevant and Step Ahead. Tennessee Strategy won by 2.75 lengths and has since had two runs for a second and a seventh in the Group 2 South African Nursery.
